The D-Scan process utilizes the same concepts as Q-Scan with much greater focus on discovery and findings confirmation. D-Scan is typically utilized when greater study is required or observation of practices is necessary. D-Scan allows you to drill down into more complex issues where solutions require more development time. A D-Scan can take from 30 days to six months depending on scope and complexity of assignment.

1. Discovery – On site assessment, observation and interviews
• Broad stakeholder input
• Review of performance history and past practices

2. Compilation – Data analysis, preparation and review by OPG team
• Benchmarking with peer group
• Comparison with OPG data and past studies

3. Confirmation – Verification of observations, recommendations and findings
• Follow-up interviews with key stakeholders
• Potential partial process implementation
• Preliminary measurement

4. Presentation of Findings - Executive level presentation and findings discussion
• Executive and management level presentations when required
• Implementation plan review
• Presentation of suggested measurement criteria (Key Performance Measures)

The output of a D-Scan will include detailed findings and recommendations and often comprehensive implementation plans for executing findings. A measurement and verification process is often developed as part of a D-Scan.
